Sébastien Surel, Eric-Maria Couturier and Romain Descharmes, from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, have shared the stage for many years. At each artistic collaboration, the momentum of their phrasing with its ample and generous sound, an extraordinary rhythmic breath and a great complicity have led them to pursue together the adventure of the Talweg trio.

 

Heirs of the classical and romantic tradition, these adventurous musicians share an insatiable curiosity, a taste for resonating their complementary sensibilities. Thus, beyond their repertoire, which includes most of the chamber music for piano trio, composers from jazz, tango, world music or rock have entrusted them with creations. 

 

The Trio Talweg, with its emotional power and unique eclecticism, is invited to perform each season at numerous festivals in France, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Luxembourg and Japan. 

He is also a regular guest on various radio and television shows for interviews and concerts broadcast in Europe.

 

In 2008, a Diapason d'Or was awarded for the first recording of the Talweg trio dedicated to Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich, published by the Triton label, as well as a complete set of Johannes Brahms' trios published by the Pavane Records label, which was very well received by critics and was the subject of numerous invitations when it was released in 2014.

 

The Talweg trio also strives to bring out new masterpieces, particularly in projects supported by the Royal Library of Belgium and the Bru Zane Foundation in Venice. 

 

They are welcomed in residence for the 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 seasons at the Maison de la Musique in Nanterre. The programme includes concerts around the trio and its guests, educational activities and a commitment to music for all in collaboration with the conservatory and the city of Nanterre.

 

In 2017-2018, the "Résonnances" festival in Le Havre welcomed them for a carte blanche of six concerts, from trio to sextet.
