French pianist, Julien Quentin is known as a musician sensitive to multiple talents, showing great maturity. His remarkable musical depth, clear and distinct sound and flawless technique make him a sought-after artist as a soloist and chamber musician. 

 

He made his successful debut in Paris (Salle Cortot), at the Geneva Conservatory and at Bargemusic in New York. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Wroclaw Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cordoba Philharmonic Orchestra and the Indiana University Orchestra under the direction of conductors such as Tommaso Placidi, Eduardo Alonso-Crespo, Paul Biss and Jens Troester.

 

Invited to numerous international festivals, he performs in Europe in Verbier, Lucerne, Gstaad, Montreux, Zermatt, Dresden, Braunschweig, Schwetzingen, Ludwigsburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Beethovenfest Bonn, Radio France Montpellier, Saint Denis and Harrogate. A regular performer in North America, he has appeared at the Ravinia, La Jolla, Ventura, Virginia Arts and Mostly Mozart Festivals in the United States. He has also given radio and television concerts in Canada, the United States, Japan and many European countries. 

 

Julien Quentin is happy to participate in chamber music concerts. In this capacity, he collaborates with artists such as Emanuel Ax, Lisa Batiashvili, Measha Brueggergosman, Corey Cerovsek, Michael Collins, Sol Gabetta, David Garrett, Nelson Goerner, Ilya Gringolts, Gary Hoffman, Angelika Kirchschlager, Lawrence Power, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Sayaka Shoji, Alexandra Soumm, Kirill Troussov & Tatjana Vassiljeva. 

 

His international tours have taken him to the United States, Australia, Japan, the Middle East, throughout Europe, and he has appeared at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Wigmore Hall in London, the Louvre in Paris, the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, Avery Fisher, Alice Tully and Carnegie Hall in New York. With Julian Bliss, he recorded a music recital for clarinet and piano for the firm EMI. 

 

He has also performed on the harpsichord with Sarah Chang and the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, as well as Thomas Quasthoff under the direction of Leonidas Kavakos. During the 2012/13 season, solo and chamber music engagements will take him to Austria, Germany, Belgium, China, South Korea, Spain, France, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Switzerland and across the United States. 

 

Born in Paris, Julien Quentin began his studies at the Geneva Conservatory with Alexis Golovine. In 2002, he graduated as an artist from Emile Naoumoff in Bloomington (USA). He taught for a year at Indiana University as an assistant professor and received the Presser Award. In 2003, he graduated from the Juilliard School in New York City after studying with György Sándor. He has also worked with Paul Badura- Skoda, Nikita Magaloff, György Sebök and Earl Wild. 

 

Julien Quentin lives in Berlin. With painter artists such as Emanuela Lucaci, Kevork Mourad and Norman Perryman, he explores new artistic horizons by bringing together diverse artistic forms. He also pursues his interest in other musical genres through his collaboration with composer Justin Messina, pianists Francesco Tristano and Rami Khalifé, or producer Martin Wheeler in projects ranging from improvisation to electronic music production.
