Conductor, violist, composer, arranger, has more than 1000 concerts to his credit, is a founding member of the Ebony quartet and has received a number of awards that make you dream. Mathieu is a complete artist.

Winner of the Bordeaux International Competition and the Munich ARD International Competition, he has performed in the world's greatest venues, Wigmore Hall in London, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Musikverein in Vienna, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, Carnegie Hall in New York... Mathieu has recorded numerous albums with the labels Warner Classics, EMI, Barclays... all of which have been acclaimed by the press. Diapason D'or, Choc du monde de la musique, Disc of the year by Gramophone magazine...

With this experience and by forging his art with artists such as Mitsuko Uchida, Gyorgy Kurtag, Menahem Pressler... Mathieu decided to devote himself to conducting an orchestra.

He immediately worked with the greatest names, Semyon Bychkov, Daniel Harding, Alain Altinoglu, Gabor Takacs... Eager to learn, he spent a year in post master at the University of Vienna in Mark Stringer's class.

From the very beginning of this new professional orientation, Mathieu took the steps. He created his ensemble Appassionato, which specializes in the performance of a wide repertoire in Chamber formation. At the same time he won the London Classical Soloist Orchestra's International Competition in London, the Budapest Edited Music Prize. He will also be Assistant to Daniel Harding for the Verbier Festival, Semyon Bychkov for the Aldeburgh Festival and will perform about thirty concerts with his ensemble Appassionato. During the 2015-2016 season Mathieu will conduct in France, Belgium, England and Japan... Orchestras such as the Màv Orchestra, the New Japan Philharmonic or the Britten-Pears Orchestra.

Mathieu is also an arranger for classical musicians such as Phillipe Jarrousky and Natalie Dessay as well as for jazz singer Stacey Kent and pop singer Luz Casals. 

He has given masterclasses in England (Festival Lake District), Germany (Frankfurt, Freiburg, Stuttgart and Berlin Hochschule), and in 2009 was appointed Professor in Residence at the prestigious Colburn School in Los Angeles (USA).

Passionate about literature and history, he is currently working on a biographical opera libretto on Georges Bizet.
